North Carolina Pro Day

There were 28 NFL teams represented at the North Carolina Tar Heel Pro Day which included the traveling wide receiver coach himself Henry Ellard from the Jets. The big name prospect for the Tar Heels is Hakeem Nicks who is #25 on my Big Board countdown and I think he should be a first round lock because of his talent and upside, granted he did score a feeble 11 on his Wonderlic but I think he plays smarter then that.

Anyways, here are his results courtesy of the wonderful people at NFL.com:

"Many scouts had to be surprised that WR Hakeem Nicks (6-0 7/8, 226 pounds) had gained 14 pounds since the combine. Nicks worked out in positional drills and turned in times of 4.43 seconds in the short shuttle and 6.96 in the three-cone drill, but he otherwise stood on his combine numbers."

Not sure how this weight gain is going to effect him but I feel he is still a first round talent regardless and I'd be very interested to see how some other scouts view this change in weight and how it might effect his draft stock. Regardless, here are the remaining results from the UNC Pro Day, courtesy of NFL.com of course.

S Trimane Goddard (5-9 1/8, 198 pounds) He put up times of 4.68 and 4.71 in the 40-yard dash, with a 4.19 short shuttle and a 6.86 three-cone drill. He had a 31 1/2-inch vertical leap and a 9-foot, 10-inch broad jump, with 17 reps on the bench press at 225 pounds.

WR Brooks Foster (6-0 1/2, 201 pounds) just ran the 40-yard dash at the pro day, turning in times of 4.44 and 4.50. Besides that, he stood on his numbers from the combine.

WR Brandon Tate didn’t participate due to an ACL injury. He has been recovering for five months and won’t do anything until June.

OT Garrett Reynolds (6-7 5/8, 315 pounds), whose uncle Jack “Hacksaw” Reynolds played 15 seasons in the NFL with the Rams and Niners, put up times of 5.32 and 5.47 in the 40, but otherwise stood on his numbers.
