30 NFL teams were in attendance to catch a glimpse of the California Golden Bears Pro Day. The main attraction was beastly offensive linemen Alex Mack who was unable to run and workout at the Combine because of an ankle injury and he put on a great performance for NFL scouts, so without further delay lets get right into it.
Those assistants showed up to watch center Alex Mack (6-foot-4 1/4, 307 pounds). He ran a 5.17 and 5.23 in the 40, posted a 28.5" vertical jump, an 8'10" broad jump, a 4.75 short shuttle, a 7.31 three-cone drill and did 20 bench press reps.
I also hear Mack looked really good in the positional drills and though I would have liked to have seen him put the bar up more then 20 times, it seems to be a common trend among top offensive linemen this season. He's a late first-early second selection when it comes to April.
As for the remaining Golden Bears, here's an update on them courtesy of the fine folks doing a fantastic job at NFL.com, you're my boy Brandt! you're my boy...
LB Zack Follett (6-2 1/8, 238 pounds) stood on everything from the combine, except bench press. He had 21 reps.
LB Anthony Felder (6-1 3/4, 235 pounds) ran a 4.76 in the 40 and had a 36-inch vertical jump. He pulled his hamstring after his first 40 and was done for the day.
LB Worrell Williams (5-11 1/4, 241 pounds) ran a 4.77 and 4.75 in the 40 and kept the rest of his numbers from the combine.
TE Cameron Morrah (6-3 3/8, 242 pounds) ran a 4.61 and 4.63 in the 40 and kept the rest of his workout drill numbers from the combine. He had really good hands, but is not seen as a proficient blocker.
DE Rulon Davis did not participate due to an ankle injury.
I fully expect the three linebackers and Morrah to see some action come draft day, Follett probably being the first of the four to go off the board anywhere between late second and late third.
