Beanie Was A Bengal?

So, looks as though the Bengals are seriously entertaining the idea of taking in-state running back from Ohio State, Chris Wells with their sixth selection in the upcoming draft according to the fellas at the Dayton Daily News. Beanie will be visiting the facilities in early April to get a feel for the team, management, coaching and so forth.

Though Wells really improved his stock at his Pro Day by running a sub 4.4 forty, I can't imagine him going as high as number six. Though he is the number one back on most people's boards he has some serious durability concerns and giving him the kind of guaranteed money that the number six selection would command doesn't seem right in this economic situation and considering the Bengals re-signed Benson and have a wealth of needs at DE, OT and WR.

I think they'll pass on Wells in favour of one of the offensive tackles who drops down to them or they very well could trade back and pick up Wells in the mid-teens. Either way, Wells shouldn't go six, that's just silly.
