Prospect Update: Jairus Byrd

Oregon Ducks almost all time leader in interceptions held a private workout recently after not being able to run at the Combine, he's a solid cornerback with good size and skill, I think his best fit would be in a cover 2 scheme since he doesn't really have the long speed that man to man schemes would like but he is physical, he plays well in coverage and is a ball hawk as he was one interception away from the all time record at Oregon.

Either way, here are his stats from his recent workout courtesy of NFL.com and the lovely Gil Brandt... he's so handsome.

He has decent size at 5-foot-10, 201 pounds, and impressive change of direction with a 4.10 short shuttle and 6.75 three-cone drill, but lacks pure speed as he ran a 4.68 and 4.69 in the 40. He also had a 35-inch vertical and did 15 bench press lifts.

He'll likely be a second day selection, but probably fairly early considering his skill set and production.
