Final Mock Draft ver 9.0 Round 5

Round 5:

137. Seattle Seahawks (from Detroit) – Demetrius Byrd, WR LSU

With the hundred and thirty seventh selection the Seahawks continue to upgrade their offense, this time by selecting the game breaking LSU receiver Demetrius Byrd. Byrd is fast, strong and a solid player and would be a great addition to the Seattle receiving corps.

138. San Francisco 49ers (from Atlanta via St. Louis) – Pat White, QB/WR/KR West Virginia

With the hundred and thirty eighth selection the San Francisco 49ers get creative and grab the multipurpose West Virginia Mountaineer Pat White. Pat White can be the QB of the future the 49ers may need, he can be a receiver they sorely lack and he can also help them introduce the wildcat with former Penn State QB and now RB Michael Robinson.

139. Kansas City Chiefs – Phillip Hunt, DE/LB Houston

With the hundred and thirty ninth selection the Kansas City Chiefs select one of the nation's top pass rushers in Phillip Hunt from Houston. The Chiefs need pass rush and Hunt is one of the best, he'll probably have to stand up to be effective but learning from a guy like Mike Vrabel won't hurt him in the slightest and hopefully he can help Kansas City get to the QB more then 10 times next season.

140. Chicago Bears (from Denver via Seattle) – Darcel McBath, S Texas Tech

With the hundred and fortieth selection the Chicago Bears select Texas Tech safety Darcel McBath. This is a huge pick up for the Bears as Darcel McBath could easily go much much earlier then this, but he is available here, he fits a need and will help the Bears defense ideally return to the prominence that it once enjoyed.

141. Philadelphia Eagles (from Cleveland) – Vance Walker, DT Georgia Tech

With the hundred and forty first selection the Philadelphia Eagles select Georgia Tech defensive tackle Vance Walker. The Eagles get their best value from late round picks on big men and Vance Walker could be a nice addition to the team if they can't lock up Mike Patterson long term. He's definitely the best player available and fits their draft strategy.

142. Cincinnati Bengals – Donald Washington, CB Ohio State

With the hundred and forty second selection the Cincinnati Bengals select the Ohio State cornerback Donald Washington. The Bengals need some depth behind Hall and Joseph and considering how well Washington tested at the combine he could be a stud down the road, at worst he provides good depth as a nickel/dime back and a special teamer.

143. Atlanta Falcons (from Oakland) – Michael Bennett, DE Texas A&M

With the hundred and forty third selection the Atlanta Falcons select Texas A&M defensive end Michael Bennett. Bennett was at one time Mike Mayock's #5 ranked defensive end so the Falcons getting him here is great value considering the severe lack of pass rush they're getting from Jamaal "2 Sacks" Anderson.

144. Jacksonville Jaguars – Marko Mitchell, WR Nevada

With the hundred and forty fourth selection the Jacksonville Jaguars select Nevada wide receiver Marko Mitchell. Doesn't matter if Torry Holt is in the fold now, the Jags need to get younger at wide receiver, they got Jeremy Maclin earlier who will be their burner and now Marko Mitchell who can be the possession guy to replace Reggie Williams and Matt Jones.

145. Green Bay Packers – Scott McKillop, LB Pittsburgh

With the hundred and forty fifth selection the Green Bay Packers select Scott McKillop for Pittsburgh. The Packers need a down hill thumper for their 3-4 and McKillop would be a nice compliment to the athleticism of Barnett and Hawk inside. He is a try hard guy who is very smart and knows how to make plays, plus, Green Bay could use some added linebacker depth.

146. San Francisco 49ers – Mike Wallace, WR Ole Miss

With the hundred and forty sixth selection the San Francisco 49ers select the speedster from Ole Miss, Mike Wallace. The 49ers have a wide receiver need and a returner need; Mike Wallace could fill both those slots and can learn from a great veteran in Isaac Bruce and potentially form a dynamic duo with the emerging Josh Morgan.

147. Buffalo Bills – Corvey Irvin, DT Georgia

With the hundred and forty seventh selection the Buffalo Bills select the Georgia defensive tackle Corvey Irvin. The Bills haven't got much out of John McCargo but Kyle Williams and Marcus Stroud are both studs, add in Irvin to the rotation and it could help them even more by keeping fresh legs in the game and keeping the defensive front rested and productive.

148. San Diego Chargers – Jason Phillips, LB TCU

With the hundred and forty eighth selection the San Diego Chargers select down hill inside backer from TCU in Jason Phillips. The Chargers could use some youth and playmaking ability in the interior portion of their linebacking corps. Steven Cooper and Matt Wilhelm aren't holding up as well as they could and Jason Phillips would be a great addition and has time to recover from his knee injury.

149. Denver Broncos – A.Q. Shipley, C Penn State

With the hundred and forty ninth selection the Denver Broncos select the hard nosed center from Penn State in A.Q. Shipley. Broncos got a great year out of Casey Weigmann but he is really getting old and could definitely be replace in the next few years, the Broncos bring in Shipley and give him some time to adjust so he can slide in later on as the new starter when Weigmann leaves.

150. Washington Redskins – Tyronne Green, OG Auburn

With the hundred and fiftieth selection the Washington Redskins select the athletic Auburn guard Tyronne Green. The Redskins really need to get younger and healthier on the offensive line and Tyronne Green has a lot of upside and potential where he could be one of the best guards in this draft. I think he would be the perfect left guard for the Redskins as he has great athleticism. He'll need a year or two to mature but he should be a starter within a year or two.

151. New York Giants (from New Orleans) – Courtney Greene, S Rutgers

With the hundred and fifty first selection the New York Giants select Rutgers safety Courtney Greene. The Giants have few needs and could use some depth in the secondary so they add in a guy who plays just down the turnpike in Rutgers to be the back up behind Kenny Phillips and Michael Johnson. He'll be a solid special teams contributor day one and could be involved in a nice rotation as he has great athleticism and skill.

152. Houston Texans – Mitch King, DT Iowa

With the hundred and fifty second selection the Houston Texans select the hard working and intense Iowa defensive tackle Mitch King. The Texans need some depth behind Amobi Okoye as they have two solid nose tackles in Okam and Johnson, but King's penetration ability should be a welcome addition and give the Texans an incredibly active front four, even in a rotation.

153. Philadelphia Eagles (from New York) – Jonathan Casillas, LB Wisconsin

With the hundred and fifty third selection the Eagles select the speedy weakside backer from Wisconsin in Jonathan Casillas. The Eagles had a couple starters at weakside this past season in Gaither and Jordan so they could look to find some stability there, Casillas is immensely talented and could potentially fill the void and be the consistent player they need there, if not, he'll be a special teams contributor and solid depth behind the two incumbents.

154. Chicago Bears – Garrett Reynolds, OT North Carolina

With the hundred and fifty fourth selection the Chicago Bears select the big Tar Heel tackle in Garrett Reynolds. The Bears signed Orlando Pace and Kevin Shaffer to play tackle but they could still use some depth and youth at the position as neither signees are spring chickens. Reynolds will get some time to mature and develop and when Chris Williams takes over at LT, Reynolds should be able to take over at RT giving the Bears a young and talented offensive line.

155. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Michael Jones, WR Arizona State

With the hundred and fifty fifth selection the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Arizona State wide receiver Michael Jones. Jones has a lot of upside and could be a great player in the future as he has the measurables and frame to be a solid NFL receiver. The Bucs could use his talents down the road and allow him to develop behind Bryant and Clayton and hopefully be the possession receiver they need.

156. Dallas Cowboys – Darius Passmore, WR Marshall

With the hundred and fifty sixth selection the Cowboys select Marshall wide receiver Darius Passmore. The Cowboys needs to get quite a few receivers and figure out who will work and who won't, they have Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton who will likely be 1 and 2, but after that it is open competition between Miles Austin, Sam Hurd and anyone else they draft. Passmore has great size and skill and could be a nice option in the future.

157. Philadelphia Eagles – Curtis Taylor, S LSU

With the hundred and fifty seventh selection the Philadelphia Eagles select LSU hard hitting safety Curtis Taylor. The Eagles solved their Brian Dawkins loss by adding Rashad Baker and Sean Jones to play safety alongside Quinton Mikell and Quinten Demps, but they could use another young guy to groom for the future since Sean Jones will only have a one year deal and Rashad Baker isn't more then situational depth. Curtis Taylor could be the prototypical strong safety they're looking for opposite Mikell and Demps.

158. Minnesota Vikings – Frantz Joseph, LB Florida Atlantic

With the hundred and fifty eighth selection the Minnesota Vikings select the hard hitting Florida Atlantic linebacker Frantz Joseph. The Vikings have had some injury troubles with E.J. Henderson and could use some depth behind him, Frantz Joseph is a very similar player, a strong and stout inside force who can also use his instinct and knowledge to cover despite his speed. He would provide the Vikings with great depth and a solid player even if they want to use him at strongside to spell Leber.

159. Philadelphia Eagles (from New England) – Aaron Kelly, WR Clemson

With the hundred and fifty ninth selection the Philadelphia Eagles select Aaron Kelly, wide receiver from Clemson. The Eagles need a big target for Donovan McNabb and Aaron Kelly is a big guy at 6'4" and also has the speed to be a vertical threat. He won't be an instant starter but in a few years he could turn into a welcome addition for the Eagles and make their offense that much more dynamic.

160. St. Louis Rams (from Atlanta) – Myron Pryor, DT Kentucky

With the hundred and sixtieth selection the St. Louis Rams select Kentucky defensive tackle Myron Pryor. The Rams need some more bodies in the interior defensive line as Clifton Ryan and Adam Carriker were getting completely worn out, bringing in Pryor and a rotational idea should help them a lot and keep fresh legs in the game allowing them to stop the run better and rush the passer more consistently.

161. Miami Dolphins – Orion Martin, DE/LB Virginia Tech

With the hundred and sixty first selection the Miami Dolphins select hybrid defensive end, linebacker Orion Martin from Virginia Tech. The Dolphins got an explosive pass rusher earlier in Cody Brown but could look to add more depth to the position and with Orion Martin still on the board he has to be the pick. This gives the Dolphins two young guys to learn behind Joey Porter and keeps the pass rush coming full force.

162. Baltimore Ravens – Sebastian Vollmer, OT Houston

With the hundred and sixty second selection the Baltimore Ravens select the big and nasty German tackle Sebastian Vollmer from Houston. The Ravens got an All Pro season from their left side in Grubbs and Gaither, but they're right side needs some more consistency. Vollmer is athletic, nasty and strong and would be a great addition as the future right tackle when Willie Anderson retires.

163. Carolina Panthers – Tim Jamison, DE Michigan

With the hundred and sixty third selection the Carolina Panthers select Michigan defensive end Tim Jamison. Currently Julius Peppers is still on the roster but he Panthers still need some depth at defensive end and Jamison has a lot of talent, unfortunately he has had really poor workouts which have dropped him immensely, but I think he could be a good RDE and learn from Julius Peppers and may end up being a steal… or a waste of a selection.

164. New York Giants – Captain Munnerlyn, CB South Carolina

With the hundred and sixty fourth selection the New York Giants select Prime U and Gamecock cornerback Captain Munnerlyn. The Giants have few needs and could use some cornerback depth considering Sam Madison is getting old and they only really have Terrell Thomas behind Webster and Ross. Munnerlyn is a tad short but he has solid skill and would be a nice addition.

165. Indianapolis Colts – Kory Sheets, RB Purdue

With the hundred and sixty fifth selection the Indianapolis Colts select the productive Big 10 back in Purdue's Kory Sheets. The Colts lost Dominic Rhodes and need some young legs to help spell Joseph Addai, Sheets runs well, catches great out of the back field and is a hard worker. He should be a solid addition to the Colts offense.

166. Dallas Cowboys (from Tennessee) – Khalif Mitchell, DT East Carolina

With the hundred and sixty sixth selection the Dallas Cowboys select the mountain out of East Carolina in Khalif Mitchell. Mitchell is a bit of an under achiever but has all the skill and strength to be a great player in the NFL. I think Jerry Jones grabs him and puts him behind All Pro Jay Ratliff and allows him to develop and gives the Cowboys another stout force inside.

167. Arizona Cardinals – Andrew Hartline, OT Central Michigan

With the hundred and sixty seventh selection the Arizona Cardinals get the athletic tackle from Central Michigan in Andrew Hartline. Hartline has great ability and would an athletic left tackle to replace Mike Gandy down the road and provide ample depth for the Cardinals as well in case of injury. Gandy really got exposed against James Harrison, so someone more athletic would be a nice addition and Hartline fits the bill.

168. Pittsburgh Steelers – Derek Pegues, S Mississippi State

With the hundred and sixty eighth pick the Pittsburgh Steelers select Mississippi State safety Derek Pegues. The Steelers lost Anthony Smith to the Packers and Ryan Clark is nearing the end of a contract, so getting a guy like Pegues would help greatly in terms of special teams help and as added depth in the secondary as a versatile cover man opposite free lancer Troy Polamalu.

169. Pittsburgh Steelers – Zach Potter, DE Nebraska

With the hundred and sixty ninth selection the Pittsburgh Steelers select the big Nebraska defensive end Zach Potter. The Steelers could stand to get bigger and younger at 3-4 defensive end and Zach Potter is probably the best available at the moment. He'll get to learn from a great veteran in Aaron Smith and is definitely not required to start right away.

170. New England Patriots – Cedric Peerman, RB Virginia

With the hundred and seventieth selection the New England Patriots select Virginia running back Cedric Peerman. The Patriots don't have many needs but health concerns for Laurence Maroney are still abundant and they could use a talented back like Cedric Peerman who can do everything the Patriots want in terms of running, catching and blocking.

171. San Francisco 49ers – Dan Gronkowski, TE Maryland

With the hundred and seventy first selection the San Francisco 49ers select Maryland tight end Dan Gronkowski. The 49ers lost blocking tight end Billy Bajema and I'm sure they don't want to use Vernon Davis specifically as a blocking tight end so they bring in the big tight end from Maryland who has been rocketing up my draft board since the combine and would be a great second tight end.

172. Dallas Cowboys – Victor Butler, DE/LB Oregon State

With the hundred and seventy second selection the Dallas Cowboys select the versatile Oregon State defensive end/linebacker hybrid Victor Butler. Greg Ellis probably has limited time remaining in Dallas and Dallas could use some depth behind Ware and Spencer and Butler provides that as he was a devastating pass rusher in college.

173. Tennessee Titans – Cameron Morrah, TE California

With the hundred and seventy third selection the Tennessee Titans select California tight end Cameron Morrah. Alge Crumpler was a terrible acquisition, he fumbled away the Titan's post season hopes and is past his prime and Bo Scaife's future is up in the air after the franchise tag. Cameron Morrah is a solid option in the receiving game and would be a great addition to the Titan offense.
