According to the Wisconsin State Journal, Duke point guard Greg Paulus worked out the Green Bay Packers. Paulus was actually a Parade All American recruit coming out of high school and had scholarship offers from schools like Miami and Notre Dame but decided against football for a four year career for the NCAA basketball powerhouse Duke Blue Devils.
Jason Wilde writes "Paulus lost his starting job to Nolan Smith and ended up averaging just 4.9 points per game this season for coach Mike Krzyzewski. He is not considered an NBA prospect, so he could pursue football instead. Presumably, the Packers were trying to keep their interest in Paulus under the radar."
Paulus was a successful quarterback in college and actually put up some fairly gaudy stats.
"Paulus set six New York state passing records at Christian Brothers, including the record for passing yards (11,763). Christian Brothers was 42-3 with him at quarterback, and he started the U.S. Army All-American game. He finished his career with 152 career touchdown passes in 45 games and led his school to the NYSPHAA Class AA championship as a senior." Wilde writes.
It is interesting to fathom where Paulus might play if he does make it to the NFL. Past history would say that teams would try him at tight end, but at 6'1" 185 lbs. he does not fit the build of a prototypical tight end so it is probably more likely he sees work as a wide receiver/wildcat quarterback but nothing more then that.
I highly doubt he will get drafted seeing as he is four years removed from his last pass attempt on the gridiron but he could very well make a practice roster as a project player and could see some potential in the future but he has a long way to go if he's going to be suiting up on Sunday.
