Pre-Season 2010 Mock Draft 1-11

Hey ADF Readers, it is now time for Matty's pre-NCAA and pre-NFL season Mock Draft for 2010 NFL Entry Draft. Thanks to Dunn's Power Rankings that I will be using as the draft order, we are ready to get rolling and we start with the first 11 teams who will be on the clock come April, so without further delay, here are the top 11 potential 2010 draft selections.

1. Detroit Lions - Russell Okung, OT Oklahoma State

The Detroit Lions selected their franchise quarterback but Jim Schwartz will realise this season why statistically Jeff Backus was one of the worst NFL blindside protectors in the league so they grab former teammate of 2009 1st rounder Brandon Pettigrew, put together solid blockers with familiarity and the Lion offensive line should gel fairly quickly and turn Kevin Smith into a more dangerous weapon and give Stafford more time to hit Calvin Johnson deep.

2. Oakland Raiders - Carlos Dunlap, DE Florida

Though the Raiders released draft pick Stryker Sulak, they need a defensive end for the future and Dunlap will impress Al Davis without a doubt. Burgess will be a likely cap casualty after the 09-10 season and Greg Ellis is injury prone and past his prime so I believe that the beast from Gainesville will be entering the black hole and being that nasty feared pass rusher that the Raiders sorely desire.

3. Kansas City Chiefs - Arrelious Benn, WR Illinois

The Chiefs need receivers for Todd Haley's pass first offense and Benn will remind Haley a lot of a weapon he had in Arizona in Anquan Boldin. Benn is a hard nosed wide receiver and doesn't go down easily. He'll be a match up problem for most defenses as he can come from almost anywhere and provide a mismatch as he is faster then any linebacker, bigger and more physical then any corner and is not afraid of a lurking safety.

4. Seattle Seahawks (from Denver) - Eric Berry, S Tennessee

With the selections the Seahawks received from Denver they select one of the best defensive playmakers in the entire country in Eric Berry from Tennessee. Berry can do it all and with the Seahawks not addressing their safety situation in the 2009 draft it seems only likely they'll grab Berry to play alongside Deon Grant in the backfield and jack up the big play potential of the Seahawk defense.

5. St. Louis Rams - Gerald McCoy, DT Oklahoma

The Rams could use a defensive end but this is a deep class for that position and they lost out on Dunlap so I think they go with the best playmaking defensive tackle in McCoy from Oklahoma. He has that Kevin Williams look, he's a big tough and nasty defensive tackle who can rush the passer, collapse the pocket and stuff in the run. Combine him on the inside with Ryan, Carriker and Scott and the Rams will have a nice solid interior rotation.

6. Cleveland Browns - Jonathan Dwyer, RB Georgia Tech

The Browns still have Jamal Lewis running the ball for them and that is a mistake, they have a young talented back in Jerome Harrison and need someone to compliment him and wear down defenses and Dwyer can be that back. He is without a doubt my consensus #1 RB and in the scrappy AFC North the Cleveland Browns will need him, especially in those winter months.

7. Jacksonville Jaguars - Ndamukong Suh, DT Nebraska

The Jaguars replenished their offensive line this past draft and now they need to replenish their defensive line and Suh is the perfect replacement for the departed Stroud who was sorely missed last season. Suh is a big man with great movement and playing alongside big John Henderson will give the Jags a nasty interior tackle rotation again.

8. San Francisco 49ers - Jevan Snead, QB Ole Miss

The 49ers need a QB and Snead has the same intensity and competitive edge that coach Mike Singletary has, he has the arm, the accuracy and the moxxy to be the next 49er QB and since he's not the 1st overall pick his contract wont set back the franchise like the selection of Alex Smith did.

9. Buffalo Bills - Sam Bradford, QB Oklahoma

If the Bills are picking here, it is because Trent Edwards couldn't get the job done and should be run out of town or least be a well paid and talented back up. Bradford is the reigning Heisman winner and has all the necessary talents minus the cannon arm to be an elite NFL QB. Not to mention Bradfod will be able to get the ball to Owens, which is something I doubt Edwards could do.

10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - George Selvia, DE South Florida

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers took several steps back last season and now with Gruden gone and Raheem Morris running the show, who knows what will happen. However, one thing that does need to happen is that the defense needs to get younger and more talented and Selvia is the BPA who fills a need. Gaines Adams is playing solid but he needs a threat opposite him to bring the pressure even more. Though the Bucs need a defensive tackle even more, it might be too early for Marvin Austin and I think Terrence Cody might be too big, so, they get the best available pass rusher in Selvie.

11. Cincinnati Bengals - Taylor Mays, S USC

The Bengals have done a lot to help their team, they have the offense, they have the linebackers, now they just need help at defensive tackle and at defensive back and considering their corners are pretty solid and safeties are lacking, they would grab the big time USC playmaker Mays to play alongside former teammates Rivers and Maualuga. Mays has the talent and speed of a corner but hits like a linebacker, if the Roy Williams experiment doesn't workout, here is the replacement.
