Matty's Rookie of the Week.

Welcome to the historical first official Matty's Rookie of the Week, each week I'll pick the rookie who had the most significant impact in the last week along with a runner up on offense and defense along with their stat line from the previous week of play. So without further a due, lets make history.

Matty's Rookie of the Week:

Peyton Hillis, RB/FB
6'1" 250 lbs
Arkansas
7th round pick, 227 overall
22 rushes, 129 yards and 1 TD

There you have it folks, Peyton Hillis is officially my first Rookie of the Week. There were quite a few worthy candidates who could have very easily made a claim for the title of rookie of the week, especially on the offensive side with the emergence of Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco at QB or with Steve Slaton, Chris Johnson, Matt Forte and others at RB but I'm giving this one to Peyton Hillis who gashed the Jets #3 ranked run defense for 129 yards on only 22 carries. Hillis is the first back this season to go over 100 yards against the stout revamped Jets defense featuring the new and improved Kris Jenkins. I also think it's necessary to say that Hillis has been able to give the Denver Broncos some balance on offense and no longer is Jay Cutler having to throw the lights out to win games. The Broncos can now set up the play action and get Cutler moving on boots and that makes their offense immensely better because they can create long drives and keep their anemic defense off the field to rest up. So, congratulations Peyton, you deserve it!

Runner Ups:

Offense

Matt Ryan, QB
6'4", 220 lbs
Boston College
1st round pick, 3rd overall
17/23 for 209 yards and 2 TDs

Defense

Cliff Avril, DE
6'3", 252 lbs
Purdue
3rd round pick, 92nd overall
3 tackles, 1 sack, FF, FR

Be sure to check back next week for the Week 14 ROTW!
